| The SURVIVAL KIDS life safety and survival skill lessons are designed and taught to provide your child with the information to survive an emergency. Developed in 1994 by the Boone County Fire District for Boone County kids, SURVIVAL KIDS is taught in each elementary school in the County. In addition, two schools within the city of Columbia have asked for the program.
|
| Stepping beyond the traditional fire and burn prevention, SURVIVAL KIDS does teach those subjects, but also teaches the lessons outlined below. Patterned after the D.A.R.E. program, SURVIVAL KIDS lessons start in October and continue through May. Children are challenged with exciting homework assignments and in class work. The lessons are based in either English, science, math, history or a combination of each and are developed using nationally recognized learning points. Since inception nearly ten years ago, more than 5,000 children have graduated from the program.
